I need some help here. I am fairly new to these forums and this may have come up already. If we're going over old stuff I apologize. I need to know two things: 1. - can food grade 35% Hydrogen peroxide be safely used to purify water? If so what ratio would you use? 2. - We have a water storage tank from the local tractor supply store. We were told that these tanks cannot be buried. It is white plastic of some sort, safe to hold water for drinking. Lots of contractors out here put them in the basements of new homes to act as a cistern. Our house is already built and it would be impossible to get in the basement so we were going to bury it. Salesman said no. Anyone done it? So far we have not contacted the manufacturer. Any info would be appreciated.

I wonder if the problem is that the tank would collapse underground when not full? what if you built a frame around it? Some way of placing support for it?

Hi y'all:
Way to go Lynn! I don't know whether Lynn's suggestion would work, but Jo, whenever someone says "no, you can't", don't hesitate to smile sweetly, and very courteously ask "Why not?" "Can the problem behind the 'why not' be handled with a little ingenuity?"
A blessing on both your houses...

I also have this exact question about Hydrogen peroxide. How are you people going to purify your water? Do purifying pumps work that you can get for camping? Why not use H2O2? Some municipalities use it. Is anyone familiar with how to go about it? Do you just stir in the H2O2? How long will it last? When do you have to repeat the treatment? What strength should be used? Wouldn't this be a convenient way to purify water?
